Chris is a co-founder and managing partner at Zone 5 Ventures, established on the desire to help sports tech entrepreneurs break down barriers and make it easier and faster to bring their vision to market. With his experience leading product and engineering teams within the space, Chris aims to have Zone 5 Ventures truly partner with innovators at the intersection of sports, technology and health and wellness.
While managing Zone 5 Ventures, Chris also leads Product and Innovation at Specialized Bicycle Components, responsible for all bike, digital, and connected product. Over his years at Specialized, Chris has helped establish a product creation engine driving early innovation exploration and R&D across disciplines as varied as carbon composites, vehicle dynamics, human performance, aerodynamics, mechatronics, e-bike technology, and digital product. He also has deep experience in commercializing product at a global scale.
Chris received his B.S. from the California Institute of Technology, his M.S. and PhD in Aeronautics from Stanford University and a lifetime of lessons from leading the design of Specialized’s ‘Win Tunnel’, an industry-first full scale, human sport specific wind tunnel. Chris lives in Menlo Park, CA with his wife and son, and often can be seen riding his Specialized bikes in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
